Eltel wins an important FTTH contract in Germany

A leading German teleoperator performs a nationwide FTTH (Fiber-to-the-home) program. The ambitious target is to offer fast Internet connection at 200 Mbps download and at 100 Mbps Upload. For the end-customer this means a fast Internet, TV in HD quality and telephony by using only one subscriber line.

In 2011 Eltel executed a similar FTTH project in Hannover. After a successful completion of the pilot Eltel has won other two major FTTH city contracts in Bavaria. The value of the new contracts is several million Euros. The scope of work is underground installation of fiber optic cable, build house connections, and reconstruction of the streets. The project shall be completed by December 2012.

Mobilization of the project is taking place with Eltel’s cross-border employee teams from Germany and Lithuania. “We had a very good start-up and co-operation, the performance of our participating resources is again excellent.” says Andreas Schober, Managing Director of Eltel Infranet GmbH.

“We also expect to win further contracts in similar fiber installation projects. We are well positioned to handle large and parallel projects nationwide in Germany.
