NCC infra and Eltel to build wind power plants in Finland

Taaleritehdas Group and NCC Rakennus have signed a cooperation agreement to build 11 wind power parks in 2012-2015. Total value of the investment is EUR 60 million. NCC will be the prime contractor for construction works and Eltel will act as their subcontractor to install electricity and data cabling, planning and electricity systems.

Taaleritehdas is an equity fund focused on developing and owning wind energy projects. Their plan is to implement projects mostly on the west coast of Finland, assuming authorities will make necessary decisions and approve the permits. Wind turbines have been ordered from the German Nordex.

“It is great to find a local partner to implement the project and take the responsibility for such a big entity but also to channel works to local partners”, says Mr. Taamir Fareed, Director of Wind Energy at Taaleritehdas.

“Sustainable development is one of the strategic focus areas of NCC and it is important to participate in building environment friendly technology. We have experience in Sweden in several larger projects. In Finland NCC has participated in three wind power projects., says Mr. Ilkka Forsell, Director of NCC’s Civil Engineering division.

“Eltel Networks places great importance in the opportunity to expand its offerings in wind power business. We have the competences and local network to implement the works”, adds Pasi Tammivaara, Development Manager of Eltel Wind Power business.
