Eltel signs its first contract in Macedonia

Eltel’s Power Transmission has signed in a consortium with the Serbian Energomontaza A.D. a EUR 10 million contract with AD MEPSO, the Electricity Tansmission System Operator of Macedonia.

Eltel and its Serbian consortium partner Energomontaza have won a EUR 10 million contract to design, supply and install a 400 kV interconnection transmission line between the City of Shtip and the Macedonian/Serbian border including a 400 kV transmission line bay in the substation Shtip. The project is financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).

The contract means for Eltel a new entry in the Balkans region. The parties share the contract value roughly 50/50. Eltel’s contribution is in particular the 400 kV transmission line portion of the project.

Lars Hammarstedt the Director of Eltel Power Transmission International comments the contract: “This is a very important contract and an entry into a new region in Europe for us”.
