Eltel wins another big contract from Fingrid

Eltel Transmission in Finland signs a second major contract with Fingrid at the end of 2012. A new 87 km 110 kV transmission line in the east of Finland to be completed by June 2015.

Eltel Transmission Finland and Fingrid have signed on 12.12.2012 a contract on construction of transmission line between Varkaus and Hovinpaikka (Viinijärvi). This turnkey project consists of demolishing old Varkaus−Viinijärvi transmission line, building a new 87 km long 110 kV transmission line with modification works at Varkaus and Kinnari substations. The project will be completed in May 2015.

The existing transmission line from Varkaus to Viinijärvi was built in 1950’s and needs to be replaced with a new line. This new project is part of Fingrid’s development plan of transmission grid in Savonia-Karelia region in Finland, which will increase the network capacity and reliability particularly in North-Karelian area. The new line will be built with guyed tubular steel towers, which means that the number of towers is considerably reduced compared to the old line.

“Our strong performance in executing transmission line projects in given time schedules and quality level is highly valued by our customers. We are happy to show again with this new contract that we will deliver to Fingrid the Eltel Transmission standard high-quality project”,” says Tapio Leskinen, director of Eltel Transmission Finland.
